Pick With Austin is working on grant funding to produce a regular (monthly?) "television series." This video series would run online on our web site, on a YouTube Channel, and may also be utilized by various other related organizations on their own websites and in-person programs. The venue would be Pick With Austin related with a blend of teen issues as they relate to positive prevention and maintenance, as well as resolution awareness, of depression oriented issues. We will use music (guitars) and other teen inspiring activities (sports, skateboarding, gaming, outdoors, etc.) to get our points across. The series will be in a news magazine style format with a host or hosts who are preferably teen (though a young adult has not been ruled out) and episodes that explore various events, programs, and venues that are of interest to the topic. Specific episodes may target specific help programs, including interviews and tours of various centers, facilities, and activities that are designed for individuals experiencing or having feelings applicable to our mission.
Because statistics show that the highest number of issues are experienced by teen males, it would be nice to have some male participation in this in addition to the usual female interest. Teen guys, unfortunately, are hard to come by in this business, but I can hope for.
Episode #1 would be unpaid but with the potential for deferred, and then subsequent episodes paid through funding that we believe we can obtain in order to carry this series forward.
This has been in the planning stages for a while and was waiting for the first project (Tribute music CD) to be completed first - which we are almost there. Currently we are seeking creative types to assist in planning. Also, seeking a director or directors, writers, REPORTERS (as talent), and anyone interested in assisting as crew. We have the equipment already and just need bodies.
Properly executed, this could become something major and national, especially with the right interests and possibly grant funding. For those interested, the only hitch is that we are seeking individuals available LONG TERM who have no plans to suddenly become too busy or move away, etc. This will definitely require 2-3 focused days per month (weekends but some weekdays when doing things such as actual in-person visits and interviews to businesses that are only open Monday through Friday, 9-5pm).
This is a collaborative and so the process will not be dictated - we are seeking participation that will be instrumental to the design, form, and function.
Volunteer and/or pose questions if you wish. Thanks.
